Tuesday, November 29th, 2011, was an historical day for the National Sailing Academy and the Youth Sailing Programme, as their dream of having a permanent home was realized. What better place than the Jolly Harbour Marina Village?
An exciting development for the Academy was the opening of its new facility at the Jolly Harbour Marina. With the support of CDAL and the Jolly Harbour Marina, an area has been designated for storage of boats and equipment and a ramp has been built to launch the sailing dinghies.
The Academy is hoping to get 10 schools onto the programme and reach a goal of 150 children a week learning to sail at this facility. The Academy will also offer private lesson to individuals and groups which will help to financially support the free lessons for Antiguan schoolchildren.
The Academy is being funded by donations from yachts, individuals, groups and businesses – both in Antigua and overseas.
